With low temperatures hitting Centerville this past week, now's the perfect time to check on your water meter and other equipment to make sure it's properly protected from inclement weather.
Utility customers are responsible for all service line and equipment past the water main. This includes, but is not limited to, the valve before the meter, the meter, service line, and your stop box. With cold temperatures likely to stick around, do your part to ensure your meter is protected from freezing. Meters that become cracked, begin leaking, etc. due to freezing or other negligence will be replaced at the expense of the property owner.
Not sure what your meter looks like? Pictured below is a Sensus iPERL 5/8" meter, which is commonly found in residential homes.

Have you ever cleared snow from your driveway only to be blocked in when the plow passes? Here's a diagram on how one should shovel their driveway.
With more snow on the way, here's a reminder that snow emergencies are detailed under City Code 10.96.020 - Parking ban.
No person shall park, abandon or leave unattended any vehicle on designated snow routes or on any other street or alley not designated as a snow route from or during such times as may be proclaimed by the mayor or his designee as a snow emergency. The designated snow route parking ban will remain in effect until such time as all snow, ice and snowdrifts have been removed.
