A special screening of the feature film "Jury of Her Peers" is open to the Centerville community on Sunday May 3rd at 3pm, generously sponsored by Centerville native Jim Carney and hosted by the Centerville Cinema 4.
Based on the actual unsolved murder of John Hossack outside Medora, Iowa in the year 1900, "Jury of Her Peers" gives a look into rural life and the state of criminal justice in Iowa's early days. Filmed entirely in Iowa with a majority Iowa cast and crew, the film has toured across Iowa since its December premiere in Des Moines. "Jury of Her Peers" additionally screened at the Los Angeles Crime and Horror Festival and recently won Gold for best feature at the Cedar Rapids Independent Film Festival.
"This is an excellent opportunity to learn about the workings of Iowa's justice system outside of the classroom," says Carney. "We're excited to bring this award-winning film to the Centerville community."
The event will feature remarks from State Representative Austin Harris and Q&A with writer/director William Rock after the screening.
"Too many films move right past Iowa, especially rural Iowa. We set out to make an Iowa film and we want rural Iowa to see it first," says Rock.
While the event is free to the public, a portion of tickets are reserved for Centerville High School and Indian Hills Community College students. Other tickets are available on a first come, first serve basis. The film is Not Rated but considered equivalent to a PG-13 or TV14 rating and total runtime with credits is 93 minutes.

A very important lesson in identifying online or text messaging scams. If it seems to good to be true, demands immediate action ....or that Spidey-Sense kicks in, it is probably a scam. It's never a bad idea to pause, consider and ask a trusted friend or resource what they think before replying to these messages.
