The Drake Public Library has been serving the citizens of Appanoose County for well over 100 years. The building contract, dated July 2, 1901, was awarded to J.W. Sanderson of Burlington at the bid price of $23,521. The library was designed by E.C. Eastman and dedicated on January 15, 1903.
This majestic building is a focal point of Centerville and its architectural features have been maintained and restored over the years with the last major restoration in 2008.
